Digital Background Compensation of Analog Impairments in Jointly Frequency-Time Interleaved DACs

This paper introduces a new digital adaptive background technique to jointly compensate for the analog impairments of frequency and time-interleaved sections jointly frequency-time interleaved digital-to-analog converters . architecture consists hierarchical structure lower bandwidth converters organized as at bottom frequency-interleaved top. system design emerges natural candidate achieve extreme specifications applications such next-generation optical communication systems, which will require with bandwidths in 120 GHz range, sampling rates about 300 GHz, ≥ 6.5 effective number bits. The compensation or calibration this is challenge that has not been addressed by prior research. In work, we present an algorithm simultaneously estimates compensates linear structure. We demonstrate effectiveness proposed method through numerical simulations coherent transceiver symbol rate 160 GBd. addition, prove device be general-purpose converter. Our results show compensated excellent high-speed commercial devices multiple applications.
